| Billy boy and me! |
Child of the Heavens,
the angel on the left, I recognize you.
the angel on the left, I recognize you.
Are your travels fun?
Earth worms.
Leaping toads.
I remember.
You're my brother
far and wide in time,
you were only seven.
Then zero.
You walk where no child has returned.
Yet, sometimes, I see you.
I see you there.
Confounded senses.
Indian blanket, fried chicken,
your blue military cap.
I remember
Memories burn deep, burn bright, burn forever and ever
and even circle around in my toe.
Earth worms.
Leaping toads.
I remember.
You're my brother
far and wide in time,
you were only seven.
Then zero.
You walk where no child has returned.
Yet, sometimes, I see you.
I see you there.
Confounded senses.
Indian blanket, fried chicken,
your blue military cap.
I remember
Memories burn deep, burn bright, burn forever and ever
and even circle around in my toe.
Excerpt from the play ~From Riverdale to Riverhead ~ By Anastasia Traina

All souls day. They return for a brief time to remind us, to comfort us, to talk to us for a short while. xox
ReplyDeleteOh, Ana -- that's beautiful. And the photo, I love it. I love the closing lines of the monologue you posted (I'm assuming it's a monologue, since the tagline says it's from a play you wrote.)
ReplyDeleteWords, like memories, have power -- and that is a beautiful way to remember your brother. Sending you hugs...
Thanks, Babes! oxoxo
ReplyDeleteThank you, Ali! oxox
ReplyDeleteBeautiful monologue, eyes are a bit watery after reading it.
